The Junior League of Denver is committed to training our membership to become leaders within the JLD and in our community. The Leadership Institute, a mini “MBA”-type education for non-profit leadership, was launched in the fall of 2009 to provide members with a learning opportunity in the area of leadership development. The Leadership Development Institute will serve as a placement for the 2012-2013 membership requirements. Members selected for this placement will attend courses in: Introduction to Leadership, Team Building, Communication, Non-Profit Leadership, Mentoring, Conflict Resolution, Change Management, Time Management/Life Balance, Strategic Thinking, and Motivation Through Vision. After completion of the Leadership Institute, graduates will be given the chance to chair a committee or hold another leadership position within the JLD.
As a participant in the Leadership Institute you will attend 10 2-hour modules throughout the year. These modules occur on different nights during the week depending on the availability and schedule of the instructors. Participants will be required to attend 8 of the 10 modules. In addition to attending the modules, there are reading assignments associated with each module that participants are asked to read prior to attending the classes. The books and materials provided to the participants are theirs to keep. All participants accepted to the institute will pay a $50 non-refundable fee to participate. Applicants will be notified of acceptance before the end of lottery.
Due to the popularity, class size and content of the Leadership Institute, the Leadership Institute Committee will conduct an application process to identify participants for the 2012-2013 year.
The deadline for the Leadership Development Institute application is 5pm on Friday, April 6, 2012. Once the applications are reviewed, there will be interviews conducted on April 9th and April 10th to select the participants.
